HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, together with HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and HH President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to suspend a planned military strike against Iran, citing the launch of serious negotiations and the potential for a diplomatic agreement.
Responding to the joint request, President Trump announced on Truth Social that the United States would stand down from the scheduled operation, while stressing that discussions with regional leaders had opened a pathway toward a deal acceptable to Washington and the wider Middle East.
The intervention highlights the coordinated diplomatic efforts of Gulf leaders to avert escalation and prioritize dialogue, underscoring the region’s role in shaping outcomes on critical security issues.
